Our last leg of our trip has us drive from Palm Springs down to Santa Monica, but first stopped first in at Venice Beach, a short hop skip and a jump from Santa Monica (you could walk the boardwalk between the two but we were trying to pack in as much as possible) Venice and, Venice Beach were like a confetti explosion in my brain. I hadn’t really fully prepared myself for it but I was in love. So many different people, walks of life, vibrant colours, things happening around you – I was in love.
It’s crazy amazing. We then headed to the shopping district in Venice, where I came across “my people”. OMG. The shops. I was in HEAVEN.
SANTA MONICA, CALIFORNIA
We hopped back into the car and drove a short distance to Santa Monica where our hotel – The Loews was. It was our last Hurrah and Aubrey surprised me with the loveliest of hotel rooms with a view of the pier. Once again, I fell in love with Santa Monica more than I had ever imagined. This leg of the trip we owed to our friends Phil & Emily who both had lived in California and said we HAD to go to Santa Monica. I’m so glad that they did, because this perhaps was one of my favourite legs of the trip – more so even than Palm Springs.
Since this was truly our last leg of the trip we arrived in Santa Monica in time to really check in, head out to dinner by the pier (all within walking distance of the Loews which was amazing) The pier was crazy busy and we were so tired from the whole trip I couldn’t mentally handle the crowd and Oscar was so exhausted too – so you’ll see that Aub was carrying him on his shoulders a lot.
We had the best sleep, packed up the next morning and headed to LAX to fly back home.
To give you an idea as to the weather that we were in – this was the weather report for the day we left to fly back to Canada.O-M-G.
Not sure if August is the time of year I’d recommend going to the dessert. Maybe we’ll do it again in a slightly lesser death-heat-time-of-year. And ta-da! That was a photo documentation of our trip!
