Nursery Makeover – Crib & Dresser

Our Jenny Lind crib that we ordered from Dear-Born Baby arrived. Last Friday, my Mom and I drove up to the store to go pick it up. Last night, Aubrey started to build the crib….

Before I forget, we also picked up a mattress for the crib at the same time…

I ended up getting the Health Assure Mattress from Dear-Born. It has an unbleached organic cotton cover. It’s extra firm on one side (for babies, as pediatricians recommend a firm mattress to prevent SIDS) but you can flip it for the toddler years as it’s made from “soothing muscle relaxing Memory Viscose Foam”. Man, this baby has a better mattress than I do.

First step….figuring out the pieces.

Mak the Cat was interested in the process.

All the activity started her going….

And she started doing “sillies”.

Last night, we also finished the dresser…

After (Ok, I still need to fix that missing decorative trim at the bottom left)

I repainted the top in white, because, well, that is what we had stock of in the basement, and I replaced the old knobs with new glass knobs from Lee Valley. I also took a bar of soap to the joints of the drawers to help them open and close better. Super easy + does the trick. 🙂

And here is the current state of the room. It is obviously a work in progress, but it is nice to have some major pieces in the room.

The dresser looks great {even without the trim}! Love the new crib. What will you be putting in the IKEA frame?

    Thank you!

I'm not sure what will go in the frame yet – it's right now resting ON the crib, but I think the frame will go up there as long as we can secure it VERY well and it can go high enough so little fingers don't get to it. I was thinking of doing a print of some sort, but of what I'm not 100% sure yet. 🙂

Thank you for your kind comments. It's actually now a fun room to work with, and the memories of the original debacle have since faded (not gone) but faded from my memory. 🙂 Ha

Wow wow wow. I love what you did with the dresser. It's very similar to the one that they did on There's was mid-century modern. I love the traditional spin. The glass knobs are so cute. I was just looking at Lee Valley for new drawer pulls for my new desk.

The nursery is going to be absolutely adorable.

Thank you everyone!! I'm absolutely loving the room, I now go into it and get excited at the notion that soon, a little baby will be in that crib. It kind of make it all a little "real". 🙂
