In My House

His + Her Splurges

A simple post for a simple day over here. Quiet, and the sun is shining through all of our windows. I’m quietly working away in my office. But I had to take a picture of these….

I am just in love with these tulips. There is a combination of purple, pinks, and yellows. I like to buy a small bouquet of flowers at the flower shop down the street and split the bouquet into 2 small vases for beside our bed. For $7 each week it is my little splurge.

And then I was in the bedroom and realized I hadn’t posted about this new addition. So we talked about MY splurging on $7 a week on a bouquet of flowers. And then there is Aubrey’s splurging. 😉

Aubrey surprised me at Christmas with a TV for our bedroom. 🙂

With baby on the way, he realized that purchases for us will dwindle (and not likely be possible), so he did it without my knowledge. Why? Because I would debate the cost, fret, and feel guilty. So I’m glad he did it that way because I love it, and don’t feel guilty. And when pregnancy yucks hits me at night, I’ll curl up after a bath, and snuggle into the bed and watch old re-runs, or HGTV. It’s my bliss. 🙂

And also in the picture is one of my favourite finds from Frontier Sales. This dresser was tucked away in a corner, and fit perfectly into our bedroom.

UPDATE: What I forgot to mention was that we did have a TV in the bedroom before – but it was a mama-of-a-tv and didn’t look very nice. It stuck out like a sore thumb, which is why it never was photographed before. 😉

I think he made a good call on that tv. My guy didn't want a tv in the bedroom, but I just couldn't imagine being on the couch while I'm sick. Also, I love how the dark wood tones look under the tv!

Ah, she fesses up. I often wonder what lurks behind the lens of the camera when looking at a shot of some gorgeous room – especially kitchens 🙂

The new TV looks great in there, Lindsay. And I **really** like the dresser you found. The wood is the perfect tone for that room.

Thanks for keepin' it real 🙂 And enjoy relaxing after your bath tonight!

I was wondering if you could tell me where you got your blinds. I need some new ones and these appear clean and simple (I'm in Canada as well)

I love tulips. They are my absolute favorite. I would buy them every week if my kitty wouldn't always eat them! 🙂
    Nice tv too!

Your bedroom is so peaceful looking. I am in love with your headboard/bed.

Here's something funny. Some friends and I were talking the other day about having a TV in the bedroom. One friend said that they don't because having a TV in the bedroom kills your sex life. My other friend said MARRIAGE is what kills your sex life, and to not blame the poor TV. : )

Your new TV is killer–in a good way.

I love how different men and women's idea of splurges are!

I've just spent far too much of my morning perusing your lovely lovely blog! My mouth just about fell open with I saw your bedroom before and afters on design sponge… great work!

The bedroom is absolutely gorgeous and I can't wait to see how the nursery turns out!

The new tv looks great! We still have an ugly 'mama-of-a-tv' in our bedroom and a new flat screen would be so nice! But I too have a baby on the way (I'm due in late May) and I feel guilty buying something new when the old one still works…so good work on your husband's part!

Lindsay,I was looking at one of your older posts and I was wondering what type of spray paint you used to paint the lamp you did for your desk space?

Too funny–my husband surprised me with a flat screen TV for the bedroom as a Christmas present too! Our previous TV was pathetic and we couldn't see a thing on it. It was nice falling asleep to Christmas movies (and now it's a nice place for him to watch football when I don't want to!).

Thank you, Thank you for all of the super kind comments. Our bedroom is hands down, my favourite room, maybe because it's just, for us, so calm, and relaxing.

Sarah…too funny. You see, I get booted upstairs when football/spots game/Playstation session is on. 😉 I don't mind. The bed is comfier than the couch!

Anonymous – I just used a regular spray paint from Home Depot, flat finish. I'm afraid I don't have the can anymore, but I do know that I didn't put much thought into it, so it must have been a regular, run of the mill paint!
